Credit Unions began way back in 1848 when Friedrich Raiffeisen, mayor of Flammersled, Germany, conceived of the idea for a credit union to help ease the distress of farmers suffering from the famine that had struck his district. Today, more than 118 million people belong to over 40,000 credit unions around the world.

Everything We Do, We Do For YouTM - We are a credit union. A credit union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative. That means we are owned by and operated by you and your fellow members. There are no stockholders, partners, or outside owners. We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of members like you, elected by you. In addition to the volunteer Board of Directors, DFCU has another volunteer group. The Supervisory Committee's primary responsibility is to ensure that the Credit Union's financial position is both safe and sound. You are our only priority.
